The much awaited Let's Groove-collection is now at your disposal! The collection is the salvation for the orchestras small in numbers, with only five (5) players you can achieve fun and rewarding symphonic band experience. The same arrangements are fully functional even with a hundred players. This is not a trick, but a tried and true approach used for half a century in Finnish (and probably other) military bands.
It all started with the stem-quartet idea of conductor Martti Parantainen, the renowned "road-warrior" conductor of military music, who developed a technique of arranging with the bare essentials in mind. He was forced to invent this approach as he had to perform with line-ups of extremely varying size and choice of instruments. We modernized the idea and combined it with a quintet based wind band music arranging technique, also adding the percussion as the 6th part, as no wind-band would consider themselves up-to-date nowadays if they would be performing without the musical colours provided by contemporary percussion parts.
To bring all this to life we managed to get the "creme de la creme fraiche" as arrangers of the pieces; Esko Heikkinen, Timo Forsström and Markku Viitasaari.
